WordPress is the most widely used tool for building websites and blogs globally, with a presence in over 42% of such applications. As its popularity has increased, a comprehensive range of tools for managing content has been developed, including numerous themes, plugins, and services tailored for WordPress users.
JetFormBuilder is a robust plugin for form creation that seamlessly integrates with the Gutenberg editor in WordPress. It is user-friendly and highly recommended for all WordPress users, as it can be used for free with no restrictions. Additionally, a paid version with extra features is available for those seeking additional resources.
Curious about the functionality of the JetFormBuilder plugin and how to implement it on your site? Stick around to discover more! 😉
What does the JetFormBuilder plugin do?
JetFormBuilder is a plugin designed to generate various types of forms using the Gutenberg editor, the primary WordPress content editor since late 2018. It allows users to create forms such as registration, contact, scheduling, and bookings, among others.
JetFormBuilder is a product developed by Crocoblock as a component of a robust WordPress plugin system that works well with both Gutenberg and Elementor. Elementor is a WordPress page editor that simplifies content editing to resemble that of website creation, enabling users to arrange sections easily through a drag-and-drop interface. Explore more Crocoblock plugins on their website.
Many WordPress plugins are available for form creation, but most do not rely on the Gutenberg editor. This makes form creation intuitive for Gutenberg users as form fields are seamlessly integrated into the editor’s block list.
I did not find a Portuguese version for JetFormBuilder during the test, but I think it will be available soon. However, it’s important to note that the fields and validations can still be shown in Portuguese on the website, as they are customizable.

There are unique functions not typically seen in standard plugins. These include step-by-step form completion, server data retrieval, and real-time calculations, particularly useful for e-commerce platforms and booking websites. Further elaboration on these features will be provided in the article.
JetFormBuilder is a significant tool for building WordPress forms due to its accessibility and variety of resources. It caters to users of all levels, from beginners to advanced.
JetEngine plugin for WordPress: its purpose and usage
Characteristics of the JetFormBuilder plugin that is available for free
You can design forms of different complexities using JetFormBuilder, which offers a range of features in its free version.
Fields for selection such as select, radio, and checkbox.
Selection fields are found in almost every online form. JetFormBuilder offers a variety of selection options for your resources.
The select type selection field enables the user to pick an option from a dropdown list of choices.

Radio buttons function similarly by permitting selection of only one choice from those provided and specified by the form’s creator.

Checkbox fields are the best choice for enabling selection of multiple options.

The final look of the form will be decided by the theme applied or a particular customization done by the user.
Text: Fields for entering text (text, textarea, and WYSIWYG)
Text fields are essential components found in various types of forms, such as contact and login forms.
The regular text field is often utilized for details like first name, last name, and email address. JetFormBuilder enables you to specify the data type (e.g. email, URL) to ensure proper validation when required.

The textarea field is utilized for longer texts, like the message section in a contact form.

JetFormBuilder offers a feature where users can format text using bold, italics, lists, and links within a text area using a WYSIWYG field, which stands for What You See Is What You Get, allowing for easy content formatting.

Number fields such as number, date, datetime, time, and range, as well as calculations
JetFormBuilder makes it easier to incorporate numeric fields into booking or scheduling forms, allowing users to create dynamic forms where numeric choices can be adjusted based on their requirements.
The number and range fields enable you to select a number for insertion.

…or a pause.

The date, datetime, and time fields enable you to select a particular date…

…a timetable…

…or either one!

The calculated field can be utilized for adding or subtracting values when needed.

Upload media files
It is simple to set up sending multiple files using JetFormBuilder by utilizing the media field.

Hidden fields that are not visible.
In various cases, it might be essential to transmit concealed data. For instance, the website administrator may need to identify the specific page or post in which the form was completed. This functionality, among others, can be achieved using a hidden field. The data accompanying the form can either be predetermined or dynamic, retrieved from the WordPress database, as illustrated in the aforementioned example.
The concealed field remains unseen by the user, yet is sent with the form upon submission.

Repeat fields in a dynamic way (repeater)
Field repetition, known as a repeat field (repeater), is a useful tool for situations where multiple entries are required, such as in forms with variable quantities of people or items. It can be customized to suit specific needs and accommodate multiple repeated fields.

Titles and headings.
Titles and subtitles can simplify the organization of more intricate forms for users by separating and prioritizing form sections.

Organization and delivery (arrange, group, and send)
Other elements can be utilized to enhance the usability of a form, such as the field divider (groupbreak) for creating a visual separation within the form.

The formbreak feature enables users to divide the field filling process into steps, which is beneficial when used alongside automatic data saving in the paid version of JetFormBuilder.

The well-known submission button, labeled “submit,” is located at the bottom of the form to transmit the data. Users have the option to customize the text on the button, similar to any other field.

Sending the form can be accomplished through traditional methods or using AJAX technology, where data is sent dynamically without reloading the page, offering the best user experience and usability.
JetFormBuilder’s unique features compared to other form plugins
JetFormBuilder stands out for its complete integration with the standard WordPress editor, allowing users to easily add a block and access the JetFormBuilder section while editing a form.
This feature enables you to add any block from the editor, not limited to the form blocks. Additionally, you can utilize Gutenberg’s layouts and patterns to structure a column form and distribute it across various sections.

Creating and modifying forms is just one of the unique features of the plugin. Some of the features that caught my attention the most include:
Conditionals usage
JetFormBuilder allows you to design intricate forms by utilizing logical conditionals. This functionality enables you to show or hide specific fields based on a user’s selection.

This feature is typically absent in conventional WordPress form plugins, making it a valuable advantage for those who require it.
Completing fields in advance
JetFormBuilder enables users to access data stored in a database and populate specific fields as needed. This functionality is particularly beneficial for tasks such as updating cadastral forms, where users may only need to modify certain pieces of information. By utilizing this feature, users can easily retrieve existing data and input only the required updates.

Completing each step
More intricate forms can also be enhanced by completing steps. The JetFormBuilder enables the splitting of filling steps into multiple steps and shows the progress of filling at each step. AJAX technology is used to load the steps, eliminating the need to reload the entire page while filling out the form.

Data validation using masks and reCaptcha verification.
Validation of the information entered in each field can be ensured through the use of masks, which are particularly helpful for fields that require a specific number of digits, such as postal codes, phone numbers, and personal identification numbers like CPF.
Masks in data entry make it easier for users by showing the expected format for the input field.

JetFormBuilder has been integrated with the reCaptcha antispam tool, simplifying the process for site administrators to handle the necessary credentials on the reCaptcha website.

Installing the JetFormBuilder plugin – instructions
The JetFormBuilder installation process is straightforward and functions like any other plugin. It can be downloaded from the WordPress plugins directory.
The simplest method to complete the installation is by using the WordPress panel directly. To do this, navigate to the plugins section in the admin panel, search for JetFormBuilder, and then select “install now.”

After installing, activate the plugin to find the JetFormBuilder option in the WordPress menu. Select “Add New” under JetFormBuilder to make a new form.

All we have to do next is create the preferred format using the editor. To access a detailed guide on this topic, watch the video provided below.

JetFormBuilder plugin’s paid version (Pro).
The unpaid version of JetFormBuilder is fully functional with no restrictions on form usage or submission. Nevertheless, certain advanced features are exclusive to the premium version of the plugin.
The PRO version of JetFormBuilder is priced at $39 annually for one website or $79 annually for multiple websites, making it appealing for designers and developers working on clients’ websites.
Activating the PRO version is straightforward. Once you’ve bought the license from the JetFormBuilder website, you’ll receive an activation key. Simply copy and paste this code into the Addons section of the plugin on your website.

With the PRO version now available, simply select the necessary add-ons, install them, and activate them through the panel. The activated add-ons will be displayed prominently at the top of the Addons page.

Summarize all the features of the premium version.
Self-filling selection
This function shows a text field that presents options based on the user’s input, making it easier to fill out forms and reducing typing errors. Particularly beneficial for fields with numerous choices.
To utilize it, once Addon is enabled, simply select a dropdown field and enable the Autocomplete feature with AJAX loading. Customize the options to be shown as the user inputs text into the field.

After setting up and making the form public, users can utilize the self-populating function.

Addresses filling themselves autonomously
By linking up with Google Maps, JetFormBuilder enables users to utilize an address autofill system. This function resembles the autofill feature, searching for relevant options as the user starts inputting the address, thus streamlining the process and reducing mistakes.

Automatic completion of rescue
Filling out a form may be halted due to various reasons, such as a loss of internet connection or the user deciding to stop. To make it easier for users who need to pause their form completion, the automatic save function is a useful tool. Complex forms like purchase orders or lengthy registration forms are suitable for this feature.
The data entered by the user will be saved in the database as it is inputted into the fields, ensuring that the information is stored and can be accessed at a later time.

Forms schedule
A form may only be accessible for a limited time, such as online voting, polls, or contest registrations with set start and end dates. JetFormBuilder scheduling can be employed for these instances.
When attempting to complete the form within or after the expiry period, the user will see a notification regarding the form’s availability.

Limit the quantity of shipments.
The site administrator can restrict the completion of a form based on predefined conditions. The JetFormBuilder PRO version offers a limit feature that can be used for scenarios such as restricting access to certain forms to only logged-in users or limiting the number of votes per user in an online vote.
